My father-in-law showed me this tool several years ago and I finally bought one. It's great! You use it in non-square-foot gardening situations where you have room for the tool between rows of plants. It is simply a plate of metal with necessary supports that is dragged just below the surface of the dirt to uproot the baby weeds. It looks like this: /| / | / | =================================( | <-- the metal plate (side view) Long Handle \ | for use while standing \ | \| After you are done, just weed by hand right around the plants. Be careful next to young plants, though -- I uprooted a tomato plant! My apologies to those gardeners who already are familiar with this (it's nothing new).
