My garden is becoming overrun with ants. The biggest problem is with my artichoke plants. They are laying eggs between the leaves. Is there anything I can do that is not harmful to me? So far I have been spraying them hard with the hose to wash them away but give them 24 hours and they're back. I also own a dog and would not want to put out anything that would be potentially harmful to her. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! (I'd like to eat at least one choke) Thanking you in advance... Denise O'Jibway - La Jolla, CA - {ucbvax, philabs}sdcsvax!sdchema!djo

If you can find some tansey (an herb that grows wild in many places) you can plant that in an around your garden. Ants hate it and will avoid the area. At least, it worked in my garden... I suspect there are other such plants...chrysanthimums, perhaps? -- "The soapbox of Gene Spafford" CSNet: Spaf @ GATech Internet: Spaf.GATech @ UDel-Relay uucp: ...!{sb1,allegra}!gatech!spaf ...!duke!mcnc!msdc!gatech!spaf
