[net.garden] rid the slugs

dipalma@ittvax.UUCP (Louis DiPalma) (07/20/83)

The problem with the horrid slimy creatures this year has been UNBELIEVABLE.
With all the rain in the SPRING and early SUMMER a haven was provided for them.
One way to eliminate them is to literally pick them off the plants otherwise
see you seedlings and some full grown plants waste away. I've spent many
nights pulling slugs off the pea plants. It became a ritual after a few days.

A popular item this year has been slug traps (bait) to kill the slimy creatures.
This has been a hot ticket item in all the garden shops and department stores.

Another problem of gardening in a wooded area with a somewhat unfenced garden
is woodchucks! These creatures love the leaves of broccoli, cauliflower,
and beans, besides a host of other items. I'm waiting to catch the animal.
I'll probably never see the woodchuck again and hope I don't.....
