I bought a weeping fig two months ago, from a guy who had shipped lots of them up from Florida. It has been losing a lot of its lower leaves, even though it has been growing new leaves on top. I have been keeping it in a spot that doesn't have a whole lot of light. Do you think that it is just adjusting to the light situation, or is it sick? Any suggestions? Matt DeJongh

They need lots of light. However, check your drainage. They should be in well drained, perhaps even slightly sandy soil. They do not do well in clay or loam for some odd reason. Patrick Powell
