[net.garden] Garden Way carts

to Joan Keegan--
I just bought the model 26 (the biggie!), but in kit form. Our next door
neighbor has one, and uses it for hauling peat, firewood, groceries, etc.
He's over 70 years old, is about 5'5" or so, walks slowly, and carries
amazingly huge loads on the cart. So I think you can very easily handle
it. (The advantage that this kind of cart has over a wheelbarrow is that
a well balanced load lifts itself up over the wheels. All you do is supply
the forward momentum and the braking.)

We live on the side of a mountain, so there is a fair amount of momentum
automatically supplied. In fact, I'm thinking of jerryrigging a brake (you
can also buy one from Garden Way). With the kit, all we supplied is one
4X8 sheet of plywood, then cut it up, stained, and varethaned it. A couple
hours work, and a bunch of money saved. The cart works great, and I'm very
glad we sprung for the big model. Any more questions, just ask.
