[net.garden] killing moles with poison pellets

Due to responses requesting information, here it is:

BRAND:	I imagine there are many brands of pellets sold, but I bought the
kind "containing peanuts", as peanuts are irresistable to moles.

APPLICATION:
	1. Locate active mole runs. I just looked for fresh mounds, as
they were appearing daily, but the can suggests rolling the
ground (make it flat with heavy roller), and looking for bumps
	    to appear.

	2. Using about a 1/2 inch diameter probe (I used a stick),
look in the vicinity of the mound for a run (stick drops
about 2-3"), or probe directly into a run if you can see one.

	3. Open can - takes a screwdriver (and mauling of can).

	4. Can says to drop 3-4 pellets into each probe hole, and
make a zillion holes. I am too lazy. I put about 10
pellets into each hole, about two holes per mound, and a
hole every 10-15 feet in long runs.

As I mentioned previously, it is STUPID to pay 80-100 bucks
for what you can do BETTER for 3-5 bucks. I have succeeded in wiping
out about 6 out of 7 families with one large can of pellets I purchased
on sale for 3 bucks. (local BiMart store)
Also, do not worry about disturbing your new lawns/gardens. A
1/2 inch hole is nearly unnoticed, especially when compared to mole damage.
