I couldn't find a net.plants or net.houseplants so I guessed that this is the most appropriate newsgroup. I have recently acquired a spider plant from a friend. I have one problem - the leaf tips are turning brown. What causes this and how can the problem be eliminated? Please reply by mail. ---------------------- Corinna Owens cbosgd!cbscc!co

(for the almighty line eater) In my daily newspaper, there's a column devoted to plant problems and hints. Some time ago, I remember reading about spider plants and what causes the tips of the leaves to turn brown. Believe it or not, the biggest cause was over- fertilizing them! Over-watering can also be a factor. I now add plant food to my spiders every 6 weeks instead of once a month, and I can see a difference. You should also be sure the leaves aren't touching the glass in a window, if you have them there. Glass gets cold in the winter and warm in the summer, and this could also bother the leaves. Anita K.
