We want to excavate and construct a root cellar behind our house.
Books we have read indicate some ways to construct a cellar, but
we thought perhaps you might be able to offer some practical,
helpful hints and suggestions concerning the types of materials
used for walls and ceiling, etc., and general design ideas.
We will be digging straight into the side of a hill, with the
door vertically aligned with the hillside. This is not an infinite
hill! The distance vertically from the proposed bottom of the door
to the general level top of the hill is about 14 feet.

We are mainly interested in having a practical, inexpensive, cellar
for our own garden produce. We probably wont need a very large one.
