A rather interesting solution to the problem of foraging deer was written up in the Boulder newspaper several years ago. It seems someone went to a local zoo and scrounged up some scat (wap wap wocka doo, breep barop zibbedy....... ....NOT THAT KIND OF SCAT!!!) from the lion's cage, and spread it around the mountain garden. Apparently, the deer kept a very respectable distance.

While I have to admit that poaching is illegal, immoral, dangerous, and what have you, the best deer repelent I ave found is a flashlight a rifle, and patience. Patrick ("Marksman medals actually do have a use") Powell

I had a similar problem with deer. I contacted my loacl agrc. agent and he gave me a chemical that repels deer. So far it's working great. It was packaged in a plain can so I'm not sure what it is. But it sure does smell, like an ash tray filled with butts.
