A while back we talked about compost piles. Well, even if you don't put
kitty litter in them you can run into animal troubles, I discovered this
morning (painfully). While picking tomatoes I happened upon a wasp
nest, or rather, one of the inhabitants happened upon my thumb.
I had to nuke a quarter of my tomatoes to singe the suckers. Who needs
napalm? Gasoline is more than adequate.
>From now on, I build only tight piles. No more of this "large vines and
branches to aerate the heap" stuff. The snakes like it down in there
(more power to them), but so do the wasps, and the snakes don't eat them
for some funny reason...
