Out, out, damn spot! (No, I'm not Lady Macbeth, nor am I trying to put the dog out for the night:-) Some of my tomatoes and peppers develop odd grayish spots on them where growth seems to be restricted. The rest of the fruit seems to develop normally, but the spot grows slowly and is, to say the least, a serious blemish. It's not caused by contact with the ground. It's not epidemic-- it's only hit a couple of tomatoes out of 8 plants and two peppers out of many dozen. What is it and what do I do to get rid of it? (The spots are, on average, about the size of a quarter. I've also seen them on commercially grown chili peppers.) -- Dick Dunn {hao, ucbvax, allegra}!nbires!rcd (303)444-5710 x3086 ...Are you making this up as you go along?
