Would like some advice on how to keep snails out of the garden without the use of poisons. I have tried beer, as well as ashes, without satisfactory results. Thanks Bernd Riechelmann, sdcc12!ux4706 or sdcc12!wa371.

Try stepping on the little buggers. It's organic (the ants clean up the mess) and there is no way they can develope a resistance. Tom Crawford

A friend of ours has a pet duck, which keeps his snails in line. He has often offered to loan out his duck for snail control to anyone who promised that they didn't use poisons in their gardens. We just pick them up and throw them over the fence, into the adjoining creek, where the crayfish eat them. Brian Reid Stanford

Try a half hour walk in the garden at dusk ( when the buggers are out ). Gives you a good chance to see how your plants are doing too. Fred Weber

I did this one evening when stepping outside for just a moment to dump some trash... I discovered that there is a fungus living on the little beggars that gives a very stuborn case of something akin to atheletes foot. This was from a small scratch from a shell fragment.
