This is geared more to to indoor plants than those of the garden variety. About 3 months ago a friend was moving out west and due to a lack of space she couldn't take her plants along. So rather than sell them, she simply gave them to me. One of these plants is (now) a 4-foot eucalyptus tree. It wasn't in the healthiest of conditions when I inherited it, but (until recently) it has been doing great. For the past couple of weeks I've noticed the leaves have been wilting more than usual and the lower leaves seem to be drying up at a rate faster than normal. I have been watering it on a regular basis and generally taking good care of it, but for some reason I'm under the impression that it is dying. A friend mentioned that it could be "pot-bound". So here are my questions, I hope some out there can suggest ways of increasing the plant's life expectancy. 1) Is it possible that the pot is too small? Currently there are 3 plants in the pot ranging from about a foot and a half to four feet in height. The pot itself is about 1.5 feet in diameter. If a new pot is required, how big should it be? 2) Should the soil be kept moist at all times, or should it be allowed to dry up a bit before watering? 3) Is there any special treatment that this type of plant requires, for example, should I mist it on a regular basis? 4) How much sunlight does it need and what room temperature is ideal? Also, the plant was outdoors for about 20 minutes last night (I was moving) and the temperature was about 10-12 degrees Celsius - will this harm the plant and if so, is there anything I can do to help it survive? Post or mail responses. Thanks in advance. -- ---------------------------------------- Andrew Vernon Computer Communications Networks Group University Of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ont. ---------------------------------------- ...!{allegra | decvax | clyde | ihnp4 }!watmath!wateng!ajvernon
