I have a dying white dogwood. It seems to be the victim of insect borers, judging from the holes in the trunk. The leaves are still on the tree, but are slightly shriveled and curled. Only one branch bloomed. We just moved into the house, and so have no idea of the history of the tree. Anyone in netland have any experience with this? Is it salvageable, or should we just cut it down? Are there "tree doctors"? Do they help?

My parents live in CT and are having similar problems with their dogwoods, except they claim it's a disease that has hit many dogwoods in the northeast. You may be right about the insect borers, but you may want to check out the possibility of disease. P.S. There are tree doctors. Let your fingers do the walking. -- Ned Robie
