< Organic or non-organic line eater? > It's BULB time, but since this is the first Fall I've ever put them in, I'm concerned as to whether I've done this right or messed it up. I put my tulips in about 7 or 8 inches down, about 4 inches apart. I watered them *well* after adding half the soil back in the planting area. Is that right? How much more water will they need this Fall? If it doesn't each week or so am I going to have to water them? How much? Any tips or encouraging words regarding bulbs will be appreciated, I still have narcissus and daffodils to plant. And I did remember to add bone meal! You got the depth about right (a rule of thumb is to get the top of the bulb three times as deep as the bulb height). The spacing will be good for the first year, but they will probably crowd sooner than if they were separated by the standard 6". The real question is did you provide good drainage below them. The ground below them should be porous so that the bulbs don't stand in a pool of water and so the roots have easy going. A good initial watering is all they need until the shoots show up in the spring. Then you can water twice a week (a good soaking) if the clouds don't do it for you. Robert Snyder bonnie!rjs
