Since planting time is about with us again, I would like to taste some of the sweet corn that I plant. The problem seems to be that the little wild critters like it less ripe then I do and therefore strip the stalks first. What I need are suggestions on how to keep racoons out of the corn. mike cole, megmec

Try planting cucumbers between your corn plants and let the vines run up the stalks. The cukes will not harm the corn and the spiny vines may discourage the raccoons. I know from experience that doing this keeps squirrels away from corn. It also saves space in the garden. Jeff David
