I know it is almost time for the leaves to fall off my maple trees, but they ARE supposed to turn yellow first, aren't they? The leaves were dropping at a tremendous rate. What's more I noticed literally thousands of bees, wasps and flies on the leaves, both on the tree and on the ground. Upon closer inspection I noticed tens of thousands of aphids on the leaves ( well, not all on one leaf, that would be pretty crowded). I sprayed the trees with safers insecticidal soap. It is 'natural' in that it really is just soap, but it is supposed to get rid of the aphids. Am I right to assume the leaves were falling off because of the damage from the aphids? And that the bees and such were enjoying the sugar sap the aphids caused (much like ants do)?
