After reading the replies to the sunglasses question, there
is one item I'd like to point out. I personally do not want
any glasses that would restrict my peripheral vision, these
mountaineering glasses sound great but when you are climbing
a mountain, you're not worried about a half-crazed (normal)
motorist about to cut you off from the side. I therefore
reject any glasses that would restrict my peripheral vision.
I've tryed three or four types of glasses and currently have
some Amber-matic type glasses. The disadvantage is the
weight seeing as they are made out of glass. One of the
advantages is that you can obtain them with a wire ear-piece
that helps the glasses to stay on. Also, by having glasses
that change their tint depending upon the amount of light,
they are usable in any conditions.
For those looking for sunglasses, one hidden problem I've
found that should be watched out for is that some glasses
that fit too close to the face may have a tendency to fog up
easily if it rains or is damp out as in the early morning in
the mountains.
