A short note on bike eye protection: Gargoyles - polycarbonate lenses "sonically welded" to the frames. large wraparound lenses which are reputed to fend off bullets with mere denting. Grey lenses which block UV light. I saw these being marketed by ProTec and they are definitely available from The Sharper Image catalog company in San Francisco for $48 (toll free # 800/344-4444). For a semi new wave look, these are THE thing. Bernard Hinault Glasses for ~ $17.90 from Bikecology large lenses and loop earpieces. Said to have been worn by Bernard in the Tour. They look quite ugly, but are pretty cheep. Also look for RayBans from Bike Whorehouse. They sell a few at pretty good prices. [For those of you who don't know Bike Whorehouse is the former Bike Warehouse nowadays going by the moniker Bike Nashbar (800/321-2474).] What I wear - fake RayBans made by U.S. Optics of Atlanta Ga. Cheap metal and strange earpieces, but good impact-resistant lenses ground optically correct (or very close). Mail order $10. See ads in all the popular sports and men's magazines. Ain't scared of orderin' from no catalog. Joe Bike Charlottesville, VA uucp: ...decvax!duke!mcnc!ncsu!uvacs!jnw CSnet: jnw@uvacs Arpa: jnw.uvacs@udel-relay
