dmmartindale has a good point. My brother was hit by a cyclist one night. He was stopped at an intersection when a cyclist without a light on on a perpendicular bike path hit him. It was lucky that the cyclist had a helmut on. Otherwise, he would have been badly hurt (the bike was totaled). My brother was the one who got the ticket. Think about this, folks, what was the cyclist doing riding so fast across an intersection without a light on at night? I give cyclists as much room as I can while driving, but am helpless to anticipate "idiot moves". The old hometown of Boulder, CO has had a law giving cyclists right of way in the right lane of all roads provided there is no bike path or lane. (There are many cyclists don't bother to use the bike paths/lanes.) I would be interested in finding out if that has improved riding conditions in the city. stuck in "no bike paths" NJ LyndaF :-)
