12/1/1886 - NYC Bicycle Club members ask park commissioners to let bicycles
		use park roadways.
12/2/1878 - The Montreal, Quebec, Bicycle Club is organized.
12/4/1953 - Wayne Stetina, 1976 National Road Champion, is born.
12/5/1896 - At a rural debate in Rooks County, Kan., the question is:
		"Resolved that the bicycle is of more benefit than the
		telephone."  The affirmative won.
12/6/1878 - The Hull Amateur Bicycle Club of Yorkshire, England, is founded.
12/9/1883 - The Ariel Wheel Club of Poughkeepsie, NY is organized.
12/10/1845- Robert W. Thompson, a London civil engineer, patents the
		pneumatic tire.
12/11/1954- Christie Borth states that neither the L.A.W. nor the bicycle
		had any influence in the good roads movement.
12/12/1895- NYC police commissioner Avery D. Andrews starts the bicycle police
		service with four patrolmen.
12/13/1927- 'The New York Times' runs an article on "Sic-Day Riders Split
		$75,000 in Prizes."
12/14/1970- Dr. Julian A. Waller submits to 'Pediatrics' a study titled
		"Bicycle Ownership, Use and Injury Patterns Among Elementary
		School Children."
12/15/1883- John S. Prince races a trotting horse for 15 miles and suffers
		defeat.
12/16/1896- The Pedersen Cycle Frame Co. Ltd. is formed to produce Dursley
		Pedersen bicycles.
12/17/1886- Thomas Stevens ends the first round-the-world trip.
12/18/1897- A photograph of a cyclist mustering sheep is published in the
		'Australasian.'
12/19/1885- Dr. Graeme M. Hammond reads a paper on the influence of the
		bicycle in health and disease before the NY Academy of
		Medicine.
12/20/1886- W. J. Morgan rides 234 miles in Minneapolis, Minn., without
		dismounting.
12/21/1976- The Congo People's Republic issues a bicycle postage stamp to
		commemorate the 1st Central African Games.
12/22/1877- 'The American Bicycling Journal' began publishing biweekly with
		Frank W. Weston as its editor in Boston.
12/23/1868- 'Scientific American' reports that a velocipede riding school is
		opened in order to train prospective riders.
12/26/1895- A cyclist writes to the 'British Medical Journal' recommending
		use of shocks to alleviate uterine displacement and spinal
		shock in women cyclists.
12/27/1980- 'Everybody's Book of Bicycle Riding,' by Tom Lieb, is published
		by Rodale Press.
12/28/1885- Herbert L. Cortis, who set the first U.S. bicycle record, dies
		at Carcoar, New South Wales.
12/30/1849- Virginia Graham writes a review for 'Spectator' of "The Bicycle
		Thief," Vittorio de Sica's flawless Italian movie.
12/31/1878- There are 500 registered riders in 11 bicycle clubs in the U.S.
