I am looking for a sport bike, $400 range. I'm willing to go higher,
but I don't want to feel too bad if it gets ripped off. Comments?
I saw the 84 Trek sport bikes, the 510 and 610 and while they look
nice, they look horrible. What I mean is that its a nice bike but the
paint job reminds me of a K-Mart special. It just "looks cheap". The
dealer shook his head when I told him this and agreed with me. Half
of me is fighting the other half over this one.
Does anyone have any opinions on the Cannondale? A very reputable
bike store (Proteus) here claims its just a gimmick (also, hard to
repair, service and unusual part sizes because of the wide tubing)
and told me to ignore it (even though they sell it and it was
significantly higher than any other of the bikes I'm looking at).
Bicycling magazine went nuts over it. I tried riding it and didn't
catch the fever but I'm not an expert.
