Hi, I have a question about transporting bicycles in vans. A reliable source told me that if you stand a bike up in a van and drive for a long distance, the bouncing of the bike in the back of the van causes the bike's wheels to "oval out". Apparently it's supposed to be much harder on your wheels than riding the bike on rough terrain. The effect isn't supposed to be noticable to the eye, but you're supposed to be able to really feel the difference when riding. Having just bought a new bike and a used van, I'm very interested in the truthhood of this assertion. Does anybody out there know ? Also, if it is bad to carry the bike that way, do you know of any way to support or hang the bike in the van to protect it ? I should note that my local bike shop tells me not to worry, but, as I said, I was told to worry by a fairly reliable source. I'm confused. Please send any definitive answers, relevant experiences, etc. to me through mail (use the reply command - I'm new to this and don't know what path to tell you) as I don't usually read this newsgroup. If the answers seem definitive, I'll post a summary. (Unless I'm told not to by a large number of people) Thanks in advance, Life is a bitch and then you die, David Hecker
