[:] A most useful and amusing chapter on handling dogs while cycling appears in "Richard's Bicycle Book." I haven't a copy with me, but I have seen it in bookstores across the land. Particularly useful is advice that most dogs are trained to think twice when someone shouts "NO!" at them, and I find this works. There is also has a paragraph or two on fighting dogs, when necessary. The last resort, as I recall, was to "shove your entire arm down the dog's throat; he will choke and die. Better your arm than your throat." I'm sure others have recommended this useful and stylish book for its other contributions, as well. Jim Mackraz
