never mind the front freewheel "technology" -- has anyone seen a bike advertised in Bicycling magazine that has all the gear mechanism on the front chainrings? the ad says it expands, whatever... and you can shift even if you're not moving at all (ie. at stop lights). the rear is just a single cog freewheel. someone wanted comments on the Shimano 600 group. i have a bicycle equipped with the 600EX group and have had no problems. the crankset is hefty and strong - the one-key release is nice. the only thing i would think about is the freehub - you need special tools to get that thing off to clean and once a freehub, always a freehub. you have no choice. has anyone used the Maillard Heliomatic(?) hubs? Has anyone used Spenco pads? do they work?
