Having been a racing cyclist(i.e. heavy training miles) for the last 6 years, I would hazzard to say that I consider the threat from cars and their drivers to be more dangerous than man's best friend. Unlike many of my cohorts, I attempt to obey all road signs and regulations. This doesn't seem to be good enough for most drivers who would rather have you riding in the ditch at the side of the road. I guess the real problem is that some drivers really resent having to "pass" you on the road, rather than wizz by you with inches to spare at top speed. These incidents could lead to some very heavy consequences and I've had my share of close calls. I would be interested to hear any information regarding the rights we bikers have, proven methods for dealing with the problem, or any other comments. I don't want to surrender my roads and rights just to stay alive but, it looks like I'm headed in that direction. Please post your feelings in this newsgroup. Bruce Hildenbrand p.s. - as for dogs, the shouting method("stay","go home") has worked fine for me as there are some dogs even Greg LeMond can't outsprint.
