[net.bicycle] Contact lenses

One solution to this problem would be to take along some lens
rewetting drops such as Clerz(R). That should replenish the water
level in the lenses and thus improve your vision.

Watch out when they get blurry. I have lost two contacts to the wind
so far and both of them flew out just after they got a little blurry.
I would also check with an eye doctor (if you can afford it)

I have recently begun riding a bicycle again after a number of years.
At some point during this period, I switched from wearing glasses to
wearing soft contact lenses. After I ride for about thirty minutes, my
vision becomes blurry, assumedly due to my eyes becoming dry. My
questions: Has anyone else experienced this problem? What do you do
about it?

Re: wearing soft contacts and biking

The only reasonable solution for me was to wear glasses when I rode.
Nearly losing a lens twice on the same ride due to dryness convinced me.

I suggest wearing a pair of sunglasses while you ride for at least three
reasons: you reduce the chance of debris flying into your eyes, the amount
of wind blowing on your contacts and you don't develope those big bulging
muscles on your forehead from squinting in the bright sunshine.

If you loose contacts while riding you should probably have your "fit"
checked by an optometrist.

PS:
I wear Bausch & Lomb 70's which I highly recommend if you have dry eyes and
may not be able to wear other lenses.
