Actually, they should be flimsy in one sense - you don't want something
spindly and hard kicking around near your eye in a fall.  'Twould be nice
if the mirror would just vanish or disintegrate on impact; making it
something that will break away helps.  However, I've seen (and briefly
owned) mirrors which can't even stand the strain of repeated refastening
coupled with heavy wind.  Cheap junk and lightweight/safe/quality equipment
appear side by side on bike shop shelves.
