I just put a new chain on my bike and, like the fellow who complained
his new chain was slipping, needed to replace the freewheel at the same
time. They seem to wear together, and if you replace one because of
excessive wear, you have to replace the other. I think the only folks
who could get around this would be people who use several freewheels
at different times on the same bike.
Thought I'd try a 6-speed gear this time, replacing my old 21/14 5-speed
gear with a 24/13 job, to be used with a 52/40 chainwheel. I'll post
a review after I've put some miles on it. It'll be interesting to
see what it's like to ride in a 108" gear.
