Hoste's race average was 21 mph, looks like the racers decided to keep things intact allowing no breakaways. Hinault probably lost his last chance to gain any time on Fignon who is almost certainly going to win provided he avoids any major disasters. LeMond, who is on the same team as Fignon, remained in third slightly ahead of the Englishman Millar. The women also have a tour going, they covered their 16th stage a 35mile leg won by Connie Meyer of the Netherlands, the current womens tour leader is American Marianner Martin - who has been riding for less than 4 years!
