[munch, munch ... has the bug been squished yet?]
What kinds of grease are best for hubs, cranks, pedals and headsets?
I've been using Phil Wood's green grease for a few years and it seems
(to me) to break down fairly quick. Is a thicker grease more appropriate?
How about ordinary car grease? My Miche pedals came packed with a thicker
tan coloured grease (origin unknown) ... maybe this is the 'right stuff'?
This is for a non racing bike, with desired regreasing about every 1000
to 3000 km (if this sounds like a reasonable interval).
[No doubt this has been discussed in the past, but I missed it back then]

I use car grease. The local bike mechanic gurus say its just a good as special bike grease. One tube will last a lifetime for only $1.19. Bart Thielges
