To check for a loose headset, straddle the top tube, clamp down on the brake levers, and try to rock the bike back and forth. A little play is ok, but clicking noises are a sure sign of excessive play. Whip the handlebars back and forth--if there's any resistance, adjustment is too tight. Look out for the threads on the steering tube--very fragile! ---Bill Weiss HLWPD!wsw
