I just started touring recently, and I am interested in any sort of advice that you more experienced people can give me. So far I've only gone short distances, 10-20 miles - max. 45, but I intend to take several longer trips, 120+ miles, during the summer. I'm also interested in advice for equipment, especialy freewheels (I broke mine) and brakes (I was given the bike without them). The bike I have is a Raliegh, I don't know what kind it is, but one of my friends suggested that it could be a Raliegh Record. I live in the midwest, so the terrain is fairly flat (when there's no snow 8-}). On another note, I was wondering what kind of bicycle (racing or touring) you would buy if price was no object, so say someone offered to buy you any bicycle you wanted, what would you get? If I get enough resposnes I will post a summary to the net.
