Can someone please help me with a bit of diagnosis? I have just begun to do some "long steady distance" riding after a winter of short distance commuting. After my first ride I experienced pain like a stretched muscle or ligament on the outside of the leg just below the knee. My instinct tells me that there is some sort of torque being applied to the foot: either my toeclips are pulling my toe into the bike (pigeontoed), or my pedal is too close to the frame. Question: is this a common ailment after a first hard ride? Will it go away or is there a potential for serious damage? If I follow my instincts and adjust the toeclips will that take care of it? Or do I need to get new pedals?
