[net.bicycle] Bike trek to benefit American Lung Association

smf@ssc-vax.UUCP (Scot M Fordyce) (06/07/85)

I am currently training for a 125 mile bicycle trek to be
held this September to benefit the American Lung Association.
The trek will take us from Seattle, Wa through the San Juan
islands into Canada and back to Seattle. This is a terrific
opportunity to participate in an extremely entertaining bike
trip while at the same time raising money for a very worthwhile
	cause.

I would like to extend an invitation to anyone interested
in this trek to come and ride with us and I will pledge a
reciprocal amount to the first five people who contact me
in response to this article. If you are interested in this
event you should get in touch with the American Lung Assoc
of Washington, (206-282-5565). The trek costs $25 which
covers all breakfasts and dinners, a sag wagon, all ferry
fares and sleeping accomadations the first night and a super
spot to pitch a tent the second night. All trekkers are
expected to raise a minimum of $250 in pledges prior to the
ride (this is actually easy to do). Hope to see you on the trek.

	p. s. If this sounds like a worthwhile cause but you aren't
interested in participating please consider pledging me a tax
deductible contribution to the American Lung Association.
Just send me your name, address and pledge amount (no money
please) and the ALA will get back to you. Thanks.

How do you get pledges? If it really is easy, this sounds like a
nice way to raise money for good causes. Tell us more about how
it's organized.
