I used to wear a pair of Craftsman workshop goggles (you know, the kind they force you to wear in any shop/lab from highschool woodworking through freshman chem lab). this was before I was old enough to drive. In those days I did not always remember that I needed glasses so I usually forgot them. I was wearing the goggles and a Bell helmet one day when some jerks in a Jeep drove up behind me and SCREAMED at me as they passed. They could not see the eyewear from behind but apparently the front view must have been pretty bizarre because the scream was half swallowed when they saw the goggles/helmet combo. I enjoyed that. Since then I wear my prescription glasses for riding. They are Photogray so I don't need sunglasses. They also have a slightly oversized lense to cover more area. I have heard a little ping several times as a pebble flies up and hits me in the lense. My glasses have those little springs on the arms where the hinges are so they are always tight enough that I don't worry about them falling off. Photogray glass is not shatterproof so I sometimes wonder if I am really protecting myself. I know that I do get some protection from wind and errant pebbles. I STRONGLY recommend that cyclists wear eye protection as well as a helmet. Sam Saal ...!{ihnp4}!eisx!sms
