Ok, here's an abbreviated update off the hotline.... Michael Shermer was 33 miles out at 5:25 EDT on July 31st (today) and he is expected to finish his crossing at 7:30 pm tonight. This will be his fastest crossing ever. In the womens, Susan Notorangelo-Haldeman pulled ahead of Shelby Hayden-Clifton today and is riding strong. At 5:25pm EDT, she was 114 miles from the finish. For Susan, that is about a 6.5 hour ride at this stage of the race. Hayden- Clifton is 21 miles back and should be riding furiously to catch Notorangelo- Haldeman. The rest of the field is out there and soon the official 48-hour cutoff will begin to affect the mens division. The last place man is 748 miles back. The last and final update will be some time tomorrow morning. For those of you who are interested, the RAAM update media hotline is: 714-969-9401 If you know any of the racers and would like a news for the local papers, this is the number to call. Also, Associated Press put a good release on the the wire last night. Stay tuned...
