[net.bicycle] Lawn Mower

Some time ago I seem to remember someone asking if there was such
a thing as a crank/chainwheel/pedal/leg powered lawn mower. Well, yes
there is. It comes to use in the form of a tricycle.

It is manufactured by Sunkyong International Inc. and features a
16 inch blade. The ratio between the crank and the cutting blade is
1 to 30 (cadance of 60 gives 1800 rpm at the blade). Each complete spin
of the crank moves the mower forward 10.6 inches.

The short article (pg. 45) in the Aug. 22, 1985 issue of Design News
claims that
one can burn off 600 calories mowing a small(?) lawn.

Finally, the cutting height is adjustable (2-3 inches) and it (you) will
mow and area of 4170 square feet per hour.
