Men:

In fridays race at Colorado National Monument (Tour of the moon) four
riders got away from the field. (Olaf Jentzsch, Eric Solomon, Andy Hampsten
and Greg Lemond. In the sprint Olaf Jentzsch was on the left with Greg
Lemond and Andy Hampsten on the right. Andy was starting to come around
Lemond when Jentzsch cut across the road and cut them both off. First they
gave the win to Lemond, then they gave it back to Jentzsch. Then they
took away the time bonuses from Jentzsch and Lemond. Then the gave Lemonds
time bonus back. In a televised interview Lemond said that this is the
reason that he did not want to come to this race. He said, "This is a
**U.S.C.F** race and **U.S.C.F.** officials are a bunch of FLAKES".

As usual the Vail Criterium was very fast. About 5 laps into the race
Davis Phinney, Steve Bauer and Sterling McBride got away and opened
a lead of about 48 seconds. About halfway thru the race a chase group
formed and eventually cought the break. This was unacceptable to the
Red Zinger team and in five laps Bernard Hinault towed what was left of
the field up to the break. With 10 to go Bruce Whitesel tried to solo
to the finish. With 4 laps remaining Bob Roll jumped up to Whitesel and
went right past him. This turned out to be the winning move. Stephane
Guay outsprinted Davis Phinney for 2nd.
