I've tried mine in the rain and have the bruises to show for it. Of course, this may have nothing to do with the tires, but others who were there with slick tires opted to stop when the rain started. Actually, I think it might be more of a psychological thing: we've been convinced for so long that tread is necessary that trusting the slicks in the rain is difficult. As far as Specialized feeling guilty for selling us extra tread, I find that hard to believe since it is not as though we are paying less to have less rubber. Personally, I think Specialized is priming us for the introduction of their new, all-weather slicks which will replace the current line (but, of course they will be the same tires).
