No, I haven't been climbing up any walls. I keep my bicycle in the basement, and have to carry it up and down a tight staircase. It seems like just the merest touch of the black bicycle tire (or my red grab-ons) against the (white) walls leaves a smudge. Before my housemate (who just had the place repainted) kills me, I'd like to know how to remove these marks. I don't know for sure what kind of paint this is (I don't really want to ask my housemate and draw it to his attention), but a couple cans in the basement say "vinyl acrylic latex flat paint", although it looks like "ordinary white" to me. Any suggestions? Don Libes {seismo,umcp-cs}!nbs-amrf!libes

Two solutions spring to mind:- 1) Develop enough coordination to carry a bike without banging into walls, this could help your life expectancy on the street too. 2) Use wheel covers for the trips up and down the stairs, just avoid the type with treads. Since I don't know what "red grab ons" are I can't help with that one, maybe you should just take 'em off (probably not illegal in the privacy of one's own home) Reg
