[net.bicycle] RAAM on TV

ABC's Wide World of Sports does not yet have a date for televising their
RAAM coverage, but it'll almost certainly be after (yawn) football season.
So much for realtime!

Incidentally, RAAM is WWoS's single most expensive event. Word has it they
spent more than a million dollars on coverage and shot more than
30 hours of film.

ABC's Wide World of Sports will be showing coverage
of the 1985 Race Across America on its show Sunday,
March 2. The usual time is 3PM, but check local listings.

RAAM coverage this year will be in one 2-hour show,
unlike last year's attempt to create suspense
("Will Lon Haldeman fade after the Mississippi???")
by splitting into two shows.

If you didn't follow the race in real time, take my word
that there's lots of action and suspense, tragedy and
surprises, and new records all around -- and ABC typically
plays up the (melo)drama for all it's worth.

Potentially four stars. This cyclist says check it out.
