                     in Software Engineering

The Computer Graphics Section of the Division of Electrical Engineering is
engaged in R/D in robotics, graphics and image processing.  The environment
consists of a VAX 780 with VMS and UNITY (Unix under VMS), M68K workstations,
frame buffers, and a PUMA 560 robot with a multiprocessor controller, video
frame grabber vision system, force sensing wrist and other peripherals. 

DUTIES

A self motivated research officer is required to participate in research in
software engineering in support of real-time robotics, work-cells, robot
off-line programming and simulation, graphics, and the development and
application of suitable work-stations for the above activity. Much of the work
will utilize a message passing operating system running on a multi-M68K.
Support tools and real-time applications are involved. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Recent M.Sc in Computer Science with relevant systems courses and a strong
background in C and software tools.  Experience with graphics or real-time
operating systems would be an asset.  Canadian citizens and permanent residents
of Canada will be given preference.
