Location: about 7 hours from Harbin (Manchuria).
Job: doing the necessary software (and possibly hardware)
things to keep 2 microVAXes (running VMS) running and
processing forestry data; training the local people.
Pay: competitive. Also hardship compensation + generous
	  housing/living/etc. benefits package + holidays + ...
When: starting sometime before May '86. One month in Canada,
12 months in China and one more month in Canada. This
schedule is subject to some change.
Preferred abilities:
        - degree + 5 years programming / system analysing /
	  kick-starting operating systems.
        - Chinese (Mandarin) speaking.
        - forestry / database / numerical analysis.
	- resourcefulness in figuring out problems using only
	  the existing manuals.
	- able to stay the full length of the contract. This is

General comments: This is a very isolated location, both physically and
culturally. There will be only a few non-Chinese around.
The weather has been described as colder than Winnipeg
although the summers are apparently fairly pleasant.
It will definitely be an EXPERIENCE to put on your resume.
