Education Entered Memorial University of Newfoundland,
--------- September 1978. Registered with the faculty of
Computer Science, and graduated in May 1985 with
a Degree of Bachelor of Science.
Special Training In my course of study I have worked with
---------------- COBOL, C, SNOBOL, ASSEMBLER, PASCAL, LISP,
ADA, FORTRAN, and BASIC computer languages,
under a number of operating systems, mostly
RSTS and UNIX. The machines, on which this
experience was gained, were DEC VAX'es, both
11/780 and 11/750, and a PDP 11/40. Concurrent
with this I have also obtained credit in six(6)
courses in digital and analog electronics offered
by the Computer Science and Physics faculties.
For four (4) semesters I was employed as a
part-time student assistant with the Audio
Visual department of the Center for Audio Visual
Education, at Memorial, where, through use, I
have gained a thorough knowledge in the operation
and maintenance of video tape recording and
playback equipment.
I have also completed an evening course at
the College of Trades and Technology. This course
was in computer programming in COBOL using an IBM
System/3 Model 15. In this course I obtained a
grade of 98 percent.
From April 1,1983 to October 30,1985, I was
employed as a salesman at Atlantic Building
Materials. In this position I was responsible
for serving customers on the sales floor,
receiving, pricing and stocking of new merchan-
dise, as well as for the operation of the cash
register during lunch hours and peak periods.
This position enabled myself to develop skills in
public relations and inter-personal communication.
Also during this period I was called upon to fill
in for the company secretary, during her vacation.
In this position I was required to keep the daily
books, prepare the daily bank deposit, and submit
daily reports, via TELEX, to the company head office
situated in Corner Brook.
