This is a very informal job notice, posted for a friend. They desperately need more people. I don't think that their personnel dept. is actively searching for people, but since they are funded for twice as many people as they have, I expect that they would seriously consider anybody interested enough to contact them. A company in Montreal doing testing of on-board computers and computerized weaponry systems for the new Canadian Patrol Frigates needs people with: - EE and/or CSc - Some background in weaponry systems would be really useful. - 4 years or more experience. - some exposure to Sperry computers would be useful - I think "careful" and "methodical" would be an appropriate attribute to have The positions seem to involve: - multiple CPUs and networking - specialized distributed databases - possibly interesting travel (eg: Sweden and the Netherlands) and/or "sea trials" - primarily testing/validation and test design/specification of weaponry, communications, control, and maintenance systems. - little development of the systems themselves - salary mid-40's and up plus lots of paid overtime (unless they completely fill their funding level :-)). - my friend really loves working there. Though the technology is relatively old (everything military is obsolete before it gets into production) they seem to have the savvy and money to do things right (eg: some pretty spectacular simulators). If you are interested, call (514)-340-8583 weekdays and early evenings, and ask for Fred. -- Chris Lewis, UUCP: {allegra, linus, ihnp4}!utzoo!mnetor!clewis BELL: (416)-475-8980 ext. 321
