The University of Toronto Computing Services is inviting applications for the position of Chief UNIX Systems Programmer. The successful candidate will be responsible for complete systems support of several BSD UNIX based systems. Required support includes kernel work, software maintenance and tuning, network maintenance and trouble shooting as well as design and implementation of new functionality at user- and kernel-level. The position requires willingness to provide support for interaction with a wide variety of operating systems and hardware. The educational background requirement for the position consists of a university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering (or related topic) or equivalent experience. A Master's Degree is preferred. Several years of BSD UNIX systems programming experience as a root user is required. Good programming style is needed, as well as the ability to communicate concepts both verbally and in writing with computer users and non-technical staff.
