UNIX Systems Manager Required (Vancouver placement)

A UNIX systems manager is required for a source licensed
site with multiple networked micro-VAX Ultrix systems to
provide systems and kernel programming support as well as
user and troff support.
The site also includes Apollo, Data General, IBM mainframes,
and VAX/VMS systems, all interconnected.
Although experience with the following would be helpful, extremely
motivated candidates with less experience and a desire to learn
will be considered. Strong inter-personal and communications skills
are required.
Desirable experience:
- UNIX systems and kernel programming
- managing networked (NFS and/or Berkeley) systems
- troff and troff pre-processors (eqn, pic, etc.)
Responsibilities will include
- maintaining and adding kernel mods to new version of Ultrix/UNIX
- adding kernel enhancements as required
- supervising and developing operating procedures
- providing support to other users and programmers
- handling UNIX and troff questions and problems
- providing leadership to others in the systems group
The successful candidate may in time become a group leader
responsible for operations and other technical support staff.
The company has operations staff so that mundane chores such as
system backup and account creation need not be handled.
Salary to $45,000 depending on experience. Relocation assistance available.
