Alias Research Inc. of Toronto has an opening for a UNIX Facilities Manager.
This position reports to the R&D Director, Support Systems Group, and
supervises two persons- a UNIX Systems Programmer, and an Electronics
Technician. He or she is responsible for day-to-day operation of a network
of UNIX systems (10 IRISes, 1 SUN, 2 Celerity systems), Macintoshes (15),
2 PIXARs, Ethernet, Appletalk, ASCII terminals, and computer room environment.
The Facilities Manager is also responsible for measuring, planning for,
and carrying out the growth of this computing environment.
We're looking for someone with a minimum of a BSc in Comp. Sci., EE, or
the like, and a thorough working knowledge of UNIX and C.
We expect a minimum of 2 years full-time experience as a UNIX Systems
Programmer, Systems Administrator, or Facilities Manager.
Communication skills are very important in this position, and management
experience is clearly desirable.
