COGNOS is one of the world's leading suppliers of applica-
tion development software. Our POWERHOUSE development
language is now installed on more than 5,000 computers in
nearly 50 countries around the world.
The development of a portable compiler for state-of-the-art
3rd and 4th generation languages has created an opening for
a Senior Programmer Analyst. The position requires a person
with excellent analytical skills and the ability to work in
co-operation with a small team of individuals highly skilled
in language design and compiler development. An in-depth
knowledge of code generation techniques is essential.
Responsibilities:
----------------
The candidate for this position must be prepared to take on
a key role in the development of a compilation system with
front ends for both 3rd and 4th generation languages and
back ends for multiple machine architectures. The first
task would be to design and implement algorithms for storage
allocation, data flow analysis, code optimization, and code
generation for a RISC architecture machine.
Skills and Experience:
---------------------
o M.Sc. CS/EE or B.Sc. and equivalent experience,
o good knowledge of the instruction set architecture and
operating system environment of at least one of: HP Pre-
cision Architecture, Vax, DG, IBM PC, or IBM mainframe,
o experience in compiler development, especially code gen-
eration,
o experience with software development in a Unix environ-
ment,
o Uptodate knowledge of programming language technology eg.
C++, Eiffel, Smalltalk, Concurrent Euclid, Modula-2.
